Curricular Practical Training (CPT):
Curricular Practical Training (CPT) is a type of work authorization for training, which is directly related to the student’s major area of study.
The IGlobal University Curricular Practical Training (“CPT”) Policies and Procedures are in full compliance with the regulations propagated by the USCIS. Qualified students may participate in CPT while taking their full-time academic course load. Students who participate in CPT will earn 1 credit after they complete it. However, CPT or the CPT credit is not required to graduate. The CPT Policies and Procedures apply only to F-1 students, who have been lawfully enrolled on a full-time basis.
CPT opportunities are available to F-1 students (graduate and undergraduate). However, CPT will only be authorized for students who have a valid, verifiable externship offer specific to their program of studies.
Student Eligibility Requirements:
Student must be maintaining F-1 Status for at least one full academic year (3 quarters) the time of application.
Have a GPA of at least 2.5 (undergraduate) or 3.0 (graduate).
Be enrolled for a full course of study while engaged in CPT.
1. Job offer letter
2. Completed Cooperative Education Agreement
3. Enroll in courses from his/her curriculum
4. A letter of recommendation from the Academic Department
5. Supporting documents if needed

During your meeting with an advisor, your application for CPT will be reviewed. If it is approved, you will receive a new I-20 with your employment authorization printed on the second page. You do not have the authorization to begin working until you receive this I-20 showing the employment authorization on the second page.
